Use Proxies with Telegram: macOS

Telegram is one of the most popular messaging platforms for communities and business contacts. In certain situations, connection quality or service access may be affected by network conditions or regional restrictions. Using a proxy can improve connection stability and make Telegram more user-friendly.

Froxy proxies can be configured directly in Telegram using the built-in proxy settings. To connect, you need to specify the server and port. Depending on the selected authorization type, you will also need to enter a username and password or first add the device's IP address to the IP Whitelist in the Froxy control panel.

How to Set Up a Froxy Proxy in Telegram on macOS

To set up a Froxy proxy in Telegram, follow these steps:

  1. Open Telegram on your macOS device.
  2. Go to Settings → Data and Storage → Use Proxy.

  4. From the proposed protocols, select SOCKS5 - a universal protocol that is supported by many applications. In this setup, only Telegram traffic passes through it.
  5. Specify proxy details from the Froxy control panel:
    • Server/Host: Your proxy server address.
    • Port: connection port.
    • Login and password: specify when using authorization using credentials;
    • When using IP authorization, leave the login and password fields empty, after adding the device’s IP address to the Whitelist.

After saving, Telegram will start using the configured proxy connection.

Troubleshooting

If Telegram cannot connect through the proxy:

  • Make sure the host, port, username, and password are entered correctly.
  • Make sure the proxy usage plan is active in your Froxy control panel.
  • Try reconnecting or restarting the Telegram app. If the problem persists, please contact Froxy support for assistance.
